Fuck the Tourists!

It’s tourist season again in the nation’s capitol, and as the hundreds of thousands of our fellow citizens flock to Washington to spend some days contemplating our national treasures, some of us residents will invariably be asked for directions, for restaurant recommendation, or told with wide-eyed wonder how lucky we are to live amid such bounty.

I would humbly suggest to my fellow DC residents, that this is the opportune time to inform these naive vacationers of how we really feel about living on the congressional plantation. I suggest looking them straight in the eye and saying:

Fuck you and fuck your family!

It’s your representatives, your senators, that keep us in chains—unable to make our own laws, spend our own taxes, and exercise the most fundamental obligation of any American, the right to vote for our own representation.

If your concept of democracy is so exclusive that it doesn’t extend to the citizens of your nation’s capital, then GO-THE-FUCK-BACK where you came from and leave us in peace.

I guarantee that this will get Congress’ attention. Americans love to write their representatives when they feel they’ve been slighted.

The Promise of the 14th Amendment Is Reaffirmed!

No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family. In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than once they were. As some of the petitioners in these cases demonstrate, marriage embodies a love that may endure even past death. It would misunderstand these men and women to say they disrespect the idea of marriage. Their plea is that they do respect it, respect it so deeply that they seek to find its fulfillment for themselves. Their hope is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilization’s oldest institutions. They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right. The judgment of the Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit is reversed.

It is so ordered.

While small-minded tools like former NYC mayor Rudy Giuliani, former New York governor George Pataki, and President of the NYC Patrolman’s Benevolent Association, Pat Lynch, mouth conservative talking points laying blame for the murder of two NYPD officers on everyone…but the actual shooter, the plain facts remain:

Eric Garner: Murdered by a NYPD police officer who used an illegal chokehold…IS STILL DEAD!

John Crawford: Murdered in an Ohio Walmart by police officers who shot him for holding a legal pellet gun (an item for sale in that very store)…IS STILL DEAD!

Tamir Rice: Murdered by a rookie Cleveland police officer only two seconds after the officer arrived on the scene in his cruiser…IS STILL DEAD!

Michael Brown: Murdered by a Ferguson, Missouri police officer…IS STILL DEAD!

We know, in this country, who receives justice and who does not.

From Gutless Shill to Traitor?

The oath of that the president elect takes calls on her/him to defend the Constitution, but on this New Year’s Eve President Obama signed a huge $662B defense appropriation bill that included a provision giving the United States military the power to detain US citizens indefinitely and without criminal charges. In other words, the man who promised as a candidate never to sign such a bill—who just two weeks ago threatened to veto the appropriation over this nonsene—went ahead and gave the military sweeping powers to ignore the Constitution just so he wouldn’t look like he was against funding our troops.

Not like Obama hasn’t proven over and over that he’s a gutless shill, unable to take a principled stand on…well…much of anything. But signing a bill that essentially does away with the 5th, 6th, and 14th Amendments is a new low, and was made all the worse by Obama’s signing statement claiming that he had no intention of applying indefinite detention to US citizens.

Really Mr. President? You really expect that, just because you won’t be throwing US citizens in dungeons, that the next man or woman to warm your chair isn’t going to say, “Oh hey! I can just imprison my opponents. Thank’s Barack!” It doesn’t occur to your addled brain that Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, Rick Perry, or Rick Santorum won’t do, without a second thought, what you claim you won’t. ARE YOU A F*CKING MORON!?

Mr. President…failing to uphold your oath of office by signing a law that explicitly violates the Constitution is tantamount to treason. And do you know what we call people who betray their country by committing treason?

Happy F*cking New Year America! We’ve got at least one more year of this clown, and when he’s done we’ll almost certainly have to deal with someone worse.

Wisconsin governor gets Punk’d!

I loved this one.  A blogger called up the Wisconsin governor pretending to be one of his billion dollar benefactors and actually got put through.  Not only that, he had a 20 minute conversation with Gov. Walker about the current battle over removing the collective bargaining rights of Wisconsin’s public employees.  The gov says he’s not going to address the call as it was just a prank.  Me, I’m laughing out loud at how easily his true agenda was outed.  You’d think if the Koch Brothers gave him so much money he’d at least recognize their voices over the phone.  I wonder if they’ll get put through the next time they really do call him.  LoL!
