  1. Several years ago, I switched to MTV expecting to find some music. All I saw was rap, calisthenics, some young guys who seemed terribly preoccupied with their own beauty and charm, and a bizarre costume party. I decided to look elsewhere and never went back.

  2. Mr_Blog… Haven’t seen ‘Jersey Shore’ myself (not having a TV might have something to do with that), but from what I’ve heard it’s pretty horrific. Of course, I thought that about most installments of ‘The Real World’.

I decided to look elsewhere and never went back.

S.W… Is VH-1 still around? Maybe I’m old enough now.

Frogette… Wait! Isn’t xFinity an, “…all porn, all the time” network? ;-)

  3. Does anyone but me remember when VH1 was the “music network for people who don’t really like music very much”?

Sometime in the 90’s Mtv stopped running music at any time but late, late at night and all the music migrated to VH1. Sometime in the last seven years VH1 moved all their music to late night and became the “asinine contrived celebrity reality gameshow” network.

    I’m sticking to the radio.

  4. Randal… Headbanger’s Ball! I remember that! Oddly though I was a fan of one of the non-music shows: Liquid Television. (I am shamed.)

    Thomas… Are you saying that I *can’t* migrate to VH-1? ;-) And BTW…what’s “radio”?

  5. Who needs MTV when you can just YouTube your favorite band’s videos? I don’t even think my kids watch it, either, and they’re the target audience. take the money and run Viacom

  6. TomCat… You must be mistaken. It was probably just the background music for ‘Jersey Shore’.

Lew… That’s a good point. I can’t get a lot of YouTube down here south-o-the-equator. Mostly it’s blocked, but when I’m back in the US…

  7. If you’re still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you’ll know which is right for you.
